80s Action Movies! Who didn’t love watching a 1 man army take down some truly memorable villains? The 80s in particular were a very special time in action movie history that were absolutely filled with memorable quotes, plots and characters that live on in our memories to this day.
We’ve pilfered through several of the designs here on m00nshot and chosen our top 15 favorite 80s action movie t-shirts. Here we go...
1. Nakatomi Plaza Christmas Party
Here’s a Christmas shirt that you can wear all year round. This party had everything. Classy horderves, safe cracking euro terrorists... It’s just a shame Joseph Takagi didn’t make it to the after party.
2. Jack Burton's Trucking Co.
It’s all in the reflexes. Sure the Pork Chop Express was Jack’s truck, but this fictitious trucking company is definitely worth hiring when you need the job done right. Just remember what ol' Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, and the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big ol' storm right square in the eye and he says, “Give me your best shot, pal. I can take it.”
3. Be Nice
Inspired by the wisdom of Dalton, the best bouncer in the business. If you want to properly clean up a nightclub, you need to be nice, until it’s time to not be nice.
4. Lincoln Hawk's Long Haul Trucking Co.
Only in the 80s could a movie be made about an arm wrestler who’s fate of winning custody of his son relied on the outcome of an arm wrestling competition.
5. Harry Ellis - Master Negotiator
Here’s a Die Hard inspired design that really thought outside the box. We love it. Harry Ellis eats Euro Trash for breakfast. That’s why he was voted the 1988 negotiator of the year by the Nakatomi Corporation.
6. Remember, Sully
Sully should have taken John Matrix’s threats a bit more serious. Instead of living out the rest of the 80s driving Rae Dawn Chong around in that sweet yellow 911 Porsche, he became a permanent fixture of the landscape at the bottom of a canyon.
7. Ivan Drago's Boxing School
This school would give the Cobra Kai a run for its money. Ivan Drago would take no mercy to the next level. He also had a terrific haircut.
8. Bennett Steam Carpet Cleaning
This shirt makes us laugh. If Matrix were here, he’d laugh too. This is the perfect T-Shirt to sport when you just need to kick back and let off some steam.
9. ICS Network Television
Home of everyone's favorite television show. This T-Shirt looks like something that Killian would have given away to the studio audience. We wish we were in that audience. Preferably seated next to that old lady who chose Ben Richards.
10. Kick Ass Bubble Gum
Gotta love this parody mashup of They Live and the Dubble Bubble wrapper. It pretty much kicks ass. We'd chew it.
11. The Butcher of Bakersfield
It's the Butcher of Bakersfield! There were lots of women and children down there! Commemorate his innocence with this epic tribute shirt.
12. Makes Cambodia Look Like Kansas
We’ve seen some bad-ass bush before, man, but nothin’ like this. This shirt’s something’. Makes Cambodia look like Kansas. Inspired by Predator.
13. Burton's Gym
Jack Burton's Gym. It's all in the reflexes. A pretty rad parody T-Shirt inspired by Big Trouble in Little China.
14. Captain Freedom's Workout
No pain, no gain! That’s the ticket. Inspired by The Running Man.
15. Rumsfield's Neighborhood Watch
Okay, so The Burbs wasn’t exactly an action movie. But Rumsfield’s neighborhood watch is a brilliant parody and definitely could have been a movie and he qualifies as an action star in our book by default.
And there you have it folks. We hope this list has put you in the mood to go dust off your DVD collection and fire up some of these classics!
