Bel Air Lanes stood at 2000 Glen Oaks Boulevard in San Fernando, a midcentury gathering place where leagues bowled and families spent Friday nights. Opening during the 1950s bowling boom, it carried the warmth of a neighborhood institution. That old EMpire phone exchange alone tells you how deep its roots ran in the valley. Part of our Retro Bowling collection, featuring the defunct alleys of yesteryear.
The Details:
A rectangular sign split into purple and orange panels displays white cursive text reading "Bel Air" with bold white block capitals "LANES" beneath. Below, smaller white text reads "2000 GLEN OAKS BLVD.," "SAN FERNANDO, CALIF.," and "Phone EMpire 5-7144."
