Alcatraz Island's recreation yard hosted one of the most unusual baseball diamonds in American history. Established around 1938 in San Francisco Bay, the field gave inmates at America's most notorious federal penitentiary a rare glimpse of normalcy. Between those baselines, the country's most dangerous men earned their only taste of freedom.
