The Mitchell Kernels began play in 1920 as members of the Dakota League, proudly representing Mitchell, South Dakota with a name tied to the region’s corn-growing roots. Named after the famous Corn Palace that put the town on the map, the Kernels were a fitting symbol of heartland baseball during a time when teams were stitched into the fabric of their communities. This design is part of our old school retro baseball series, with original branding reimagined by m00nshot for the forgotten Minor League teams of yesteryear.
