Monaco Motel sat in the shadow of the Desert Inn on the Las Vegas Strip, a modest roadside lodge dwarfed by its legendary neighbor. Operating through the 1950s and 1960s, it served travelers who wanted to be close to the glamour without paying for it. Places like this were the quiet backbone of early Las Vegas tourism.
