Lake Linden's Sandy Cities took the field in 1906 as part of Michigan's Northern-Copper Country League. Born from the mining towns of the Upper Peninsula, Class C baseball gave those copper country communities something beyond the mines to rally around. Some teams fade from record books but never from the soil they played on. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Flowing rust-brown cursive script reads "Sandy Cities" with a swoosh tail, above a starburst and bold serif text reading "EST. 1906." A distressed illustration depicts a batter mid-swing before evergreen trees and a lake horizon. Block lettering below reads "LAKE LINDEN, MICHIGAN," "CLASS C BASEBALL CLUB," and "NORTHERN-COPPER COUNTRY LEAGUE."
