Wheeling's Stogies took the diamond in 1899 as part of the Interstate League, carrying the cigar-making heritage of West Virginia's Ohio Valley right into their name. Class B ball meant everything to towns like Wheeling back then. Minor league clubs gave working communities an identity beyond the factory floor. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Distressed rust-red arched block text reads "WHEELING" at the top. Below, a vintage hand-drawn illustration of a hand gripping a lit cigar with curling smoke is flanked by "WHEELING" on the left and "W. VA." on the right in dark block letters. Rust-red cursive script reads "Stogies" above "1899 INTERSTATE LEAGUE CLASS B BASEBALL CLUB" in rust-red uppercase lettering.
