Desert Inn opened on the Las Vegas Strip in 1950, when that road was still mostly desert. Its golf course, the first on the Strip, brought country club polish to a gambling town. A reclusive billionaire later bought the resort and made its penthouse his home. Closing in 2000, it took a piece of old Las Vegas with it. Part of our Vintage Las Vegas collection, celebrating the defunct golden era venues of yesteryear.
