Baseball in Racine, Wisconsin, took on a hometown flavor when the Malted Milks joined the Wisconsin-Illinois League in 1909. Racine was the birthplace of malted milk, and the club carried that local pride in its very name. Long before radio brought the big leagues into every parlor, teams like this one gave a working city something to call its own. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Text in distressed red block letters arches across the top, reading "RACINE." A round brown rubber-hose cartoon mascot in a white cap lunges toward a baseball with a brown glove, flanked by "ESTD" and "1909." Stacked distressed red letters read "MALTED MILKS" above dark brown text reading "WISCONSIN-ILLINOIS LEAGUE."
