West Hill Lanes stood at Charleston and Decatur in Las Vegas, a mid-century bowling alley built when the city's west side was still open desert. Rising during the 1950s boom, it gave locals a place that had nothing to do with the Strip. Some corners of Vegas belonged to tourists, but this one belonged to the neighborhood. Part of our Vintage Las Vegas collection, celebrating the defunct golden era venues of yesteryear.
The Details:
Burnt orange and steel blue mid-century illustration depicts a Googie-style bowling alley with a tall roadside sign reading "WEST HILL LANES," topped with two orange globe ornaments, and wisps of smoke rising from the left. A flat-roofed building with starburst facade motifs and a vintage car parked under the canopy sits below. Steel blue text reads "W. CHARLESTON AT DECATUR" and "LAS VEGAS, NEVADA."
