Cedar Rapids fielded the Rabbits in the Western Association beginning in 1896, joining a network of Class B minor league clubs across the Midwest. Baseball was the common language of Iowa river towns in that era. Clubs like the Rabbits gave Cedar Rapids something to rally around long before radio brought the major leagues home. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
