Elgin's Watch Makers took the diamond in 1915, a Class D club in the Bi-State League born from a city whose identity was inseparable from timepieces. Elgin, Illinois had built its name on precision craftsmanship, and its baseball club carried that pride onto every small-town field. Some teams represented a city, this one represented an entire industry. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Stacked block text reads "ELGIN, ILLINOIS" and "BI-STATE LEAGUE" beside a cartoon anthropomorphic pocket watch character wearing a tilted baseball cap. Flowing distressed golden-tan script below reads "Watch Makers" with a classic swoosh tail. Below, "ESTABLISHED 1915" flanks an oval badge reading "CLASS D BASEBALL CLUB."
