New London's Whalers took the field in 1898 as part of the Connecticut State League, a Class F outfit in a proud seafaring city. Minor league ball in that era wasn't just sport, it was the social fabric of small New England towns. Places like New London gave working families something to gather around every summer evening. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
