Taunton, Massachusetts had its own ball club as early as 1897, when independent teams were the backbone of New England summers. Mill towns across the region fielded squads that meant everything to the locals. Clubs like the Herrings gave working families a reason to gather on warm evenings long before the majors took over. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
