Charleston's Charlies brought minor league baseball to West Virginia as a Houston Astros affiliate starting in 1971. Watt Powell Park in Charleston became the heartbeat of summers through the late 1970s and early 1980s. Small city ball still meant everything back then, and the Charlies gave that town something to rally around. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Golden-yellow arched block text reads "CHARLESTON" above a cartoon baseball character with a smiling face, wearing a light blue cap labeled "CHARLIES" and gripping a light blue bat. A white pennant swoosh extends behind the character, with golden-yellow cursive script reading "Charlies" below. Light blue block text reads "1977" at the bottom.
