Monaco Motel sat in the shadow of the Desert Inn on the Las Vegas Strip, a modest roadside lodge dwarfed by its legendary neighbor. Operating through the 1950s and 1960s, it served travelers who wanted to be close to the glamour without paying for it. Places like this were the quiet backbone of early Las Vegas tourism. Part of our Vintage Las Vegas collection, celebrating the defunct golden era venues of yesteryear.
The Details:
Dusty blue irregular quadrilateral shape, resembling a vintage sign, contains small cursive script reading "the" above large hand-lettered cursive "Monaco" and bold white block capitals "MOTEL." Distressed white sans-serif text below reads "NEXT TO DESERT INN HOTEL," then "ON THE FABULOUS STRIP," with italicized "LAS VEGAS, NEVADA" at the bottom.
