Race betting parlors like the Derby Turf Club once anchored downtown Las Vegas, long before mega-resorts claimed the action. Operating at 113 South First Street in the mid-century era, it gave horseplayers a place to study the form and wait on results from distant tracks. Some rooms hold a city's memory. The Derby held its hopes. Part of our Vintage Las Vegas collection, celebrating the defunct golden era venues of yesteryear.
The Details:
Outlined clouds hover over a vintage hand-drawn illustration in dark green, kelly green, and red of a brick storefront building, its bulb-lined vertical marquee reading "RACE BETTING" between "DERBY" and "TURF" signs, flanked by shrubs. Dark green sans-serif text reads "DOWNTOWN LAS VEGAS, NEVADA" and "113 SOUTH FIRST STREET."
