Opening in 1955 on the Las Vegas Strip, the Dunes brought an Arabian Nights fantasy to a desert town still learning how big it could dream. Through the golden decades of headliners, high rollers, and lounge acts, it stood among the Strip's original pillars. Its 1993 implosion closed a chapter of old Las Vegas no newer resort could rewrite. Part of our Vintage Las Vegas collection, celebrating the defunct golden era venues of yesteryear.
The Details:
Sultan figure illustration at left, in distressed print, wears a plumed turban, mustard-gold tunic and harem pants, and a magenta-lined teal cape. Magenta script reads "The" above large teal brush-script "Dunes." Magenta sans-serif capitals read "HOTEL" above a mustard-yellow swoosh with a magenta tip and small teal capitals reading "LAS VEGAS."
