Opening in 1955 on the Las Vegas Strip, the Dunes brought Arabian Nights fantasy to a desert town still finding its legend. By the 1966 edition of its Casino de Paris revue, the showroom was bringing Parisian spectacle and a cast of one hundred nightly. Some marquees advertise a show, this one remembers an era. Part of our Vintage Las Vegas collection, celebrating the defunct golden era venues of yesteryear.
The Details:
Onion-dome sign with a spire and diamond ornament frames yellow "DUNES" on textured turquoise. Cream pillars flank a gold grid of almond-shaped loops. Distressed cream marquee reads "Casino de Paris," "LINE RENAUD," "DIRECT FROM PARIS," and "FREDERIC APCAR-CAST OF 100" above a yellow panel reading "NEW 1966" and "Vive Les Girls!"
