Thunderbird Hotel opened on the Las Vegas Strip in 1948, only the fourth resort to rise along that lonely stretch of Highway 91. Postwar travelers came chasing sunshine, cards, and a little Hollywood glamour in the desert. Its showroom brought Broadway to Nevada, and its name became shorthand for the Strip's first golden years. Part of our Vintage Las Vegas collection, celebrating the defunct golden era venues of yesteryear.
The Details:
Script lettering in gray-beige reads "Thunderbird" beside a thunderbird figure with red, orange, yellow, and brown striped wings, framed by hatched gray clouds. A distressed hand-drawn illustration shows the figure atop a gray tower marked "HOTEL," flanked by red-roofed buildings and a red car. Matching script reads "Las Vegas, Nevada."
