Thunderbird Hotel opened in 1948 as the fourth resort on the Las Vegas Strip, when Highway 91 was still more desert than destination. Named for a sacred figure of Native legend, it stood for a young town betting on its own future. Postwar travelers came for the tables and left with a glimpse of the city to come. Part of our Vintage Las Vegas collection, celebrating the defunct golden era venues of yesteryear.

The Details:

Thunderbird artwork in hand-drawn style shows a pale yellow bird with red outlines and a green striped wing beside thin green sans-serif "HOTEL," above red brush script "Thunderbird." Chunky green "$5" sits between pale yellow block text "CASINO" and "DINING." Arched red text reads "LAS VEGAS • NEV." with distressed texture throughout.
