Flamingo Hotel opened in 1946 as the Las Vegas Strip's first luxury casino resort, billed as "The Showplace of the Nation." It transformed the Nevada desert from dusty stopover into a destination built on ambition and spectacle. Every casino that followed tried to match the standard it set.
