Andy Lococo's Cockatoo Restaurant stood along Imperial Highway in Inglewood, California, from the mid-20th century as a neighborhood gathering place. During an era when supper clubs and family restaurants anchored Southern California communities, spots like this one gave a town its identity. Some restaurants fed people, others became landmarks.
