This legendary tiki bar became a cornerstone of San Diego's exotic cocktail scene, serving up potent rum concoctions in ceramic mugs while bamboo decor and carved tikis created an authentic South Pacific atmosphere. The establishment drew locals and Navy personnel alike, all seeking refuge from California's hustle in a dimly lit sanctuary filled with the sounds of exotica music and clinking ice. When The Tropics finally closed its doors, it left behind a legacy as one of Southern California's most beloved tiki temples, a place where the aloha spirit lived year-round just blocks from the Pacific Ocean.
