Akron's Acorns took the diamond in 1887 as part of the Ohio State League, back when minor league ball was the lifeblood of Midwestern towns. Baseball clubs like this one gave working communities a shared identity and something to rally behind on summer evenings. Some teams vanish from the record books but never really leave the soil they grew from. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Golden-yellow script text reads "Acorns" above a brown banner reading "AKRON, OHIO," with a cartoon acorn mascot in a batting stance wearing a crosshatched cap, rendered in brown and golden-yellow.
