Encinals baseball took root in Alameda, California around 1908, competing in the California League's Class D circuit. Named for the Spanish word for oak trees, the club carried its East Bay community onto the diamond. Small town leagues like these were the soul of California baseball, long before the majors moved west. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
