Chi-Chi stood at the center of Palm Springs' midcentury Polynesian craze, opening in the 1950s as a playground for Hollywood's elite escaping to the desert. Tiki culture was more than kitsch back then. Postwar optimism poured into a rum glass, and few places captured that spirit like this legendary desert watering hole. A vintage hand-drawn hula dancer in a grass skirt and lei stands among palm trees, tropical foliage, yellow and white flowers, and an orange hibiscus, rendered in muted navy, orange, sage green, and yellow ink with weathered texture.
