Cove Bowl stood along Pacific Coast Highway in Wilmington, California, a harbor town where longshoremen and dockworkers unwound after grueling shifts. Operating through the mid-twentieth century, it served a tight-knit working-class community built around the port. Some alleys belonged to their neighborhoods so completely they became landmarks no one thought to question. Part of our Vintage Los Angeles collection, featuring the iconic local landmarks of yesteryear.
The Details:
Turquoise hand-drawn script reading "COVE BOWL" appears on the sails of a vintage galleon illustration with a red hull, red flag, and white sails, surrounded by turquoise clouds, waves, and seagulls. Black serif text below reads "311 W. Pacific Coast Hwy." and "Wilmington, Calif."
