Davenport's River Rats took the diamond in 1901 as a Class D club in the Illinois-Indiana-Iowa League. The Three-I League connected small river towns across the Midwest when minor league ball was the only game most folks ever saw. Davenport, Iowa gave those teams a home and a reason to show up. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Arched navy block text reads "DAVENPORT" above a vintage cartoon illustration of a rat in a baseball cap charging forward with an exaggerated trailing tail, flanked by "19" and "01." Below, bold navy text reads "RIVERRATS" with smaller condensed text reading "ILLINOIS-INDIANA-IOWA LEAGUE" and "CLASS D BASEBALL CLUB." Cursive navy script at the bottom reads "Davenport, Iowa" with a swooping underline.
