Diamond Head was part of Route 1's legendary neon strip in Saugus, Massachusetts, a stretch that defined mid-century nightlife north of Boston. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 3 a.m., it rode the Polynesian tiki craze that swept America through the 1950s and 1960s. Places like this turned a simple night out into an escape.
