Don May's Leilani Hut was a beloved tiki bar and restaurant located at 5236 E. 2nd Street in the Belmont Shore area of Long Beach, California. Established as early as 1938, it became a local favorite for its tropical ambiance, featuring large Hawaiian-themed murals and authentic South Seas decor. The menu offered a blend of Cantonese and American dishes, with specialties like the Celestial Dinner and Teriyaki steak. The bar was renowned for its exotic cocktails, including 14-ounce Bloody Marys made from a Tahitian recipe. Live entertainment was a staple, with performances by artists such as Koloa, an island singer and ukulele player. In 1974, the Leilani Hut closed for good.
