The Dunes opened on the Las Vegas Strip in 1955, an Arabian Nights dream rising from the Mojave sand. Back then the Strip was a handful of resorts along a desert highway, and every new marquee felt like a promise. The Dunes kept that promise for nearly four decades. Its 1993 implosion closed a chapter Las Vegas still remembers. Part of our Vintage Las Vegas collection, celebrating the defunct golden era venues of yesteryear.
