Opening in 1946 on the Las Vegas Strip, the Fabulous Flamingo arrived when the desert highway held little more than sand and ambition. Billed as the Show Place of the Nation, it brought big-city glamour to a dusty railroad town. Every resort that followed owes something to that bold gamble.
