Flamingo Hotel stood as the original dream of the Las Vegas Strip, opening in 1946 and forever changing the Nevada desert into a playground of ambition and spectacle. Billed as "The Showplace of the Nation," it set the standard every casino that followed tried to match. Some places launch an era, and the Flamingo launched Las Vegas itself.
