Hollywood Recreation stood at 1539 North Vine in Hollywood, directly opposite NBC studios, from the 1940s through the golden age of broadcast television. Entertainers and studio crews would cross the street after tapings to unwind over lanes and cocktails in the Radio Room. Some alleys hosted leagues, but this one hosted an era. Part of our Vintage Los Angeles collection, featuring the iconic local landmarks of yesteryear.
The Details:
A vintage navy pin-up illustration of a woman mid-bowling stride, one leg kicked back, releases a ball toward scattering pins with golden-yellow radiating lines. Golden-yellow and navy jagged lightning-bolt lettering reads "RADIO ROOM" with navy serif text below reading "HOLLYWOOD RECREATION" and "1539 N.VINE • OPPOSITE NBC."
