Joplin's Miners took the field in 1902 as part of the Missouri Valley League, bringing Class D minor league baseball to a southwest Missouri mining town. Baseball and the mines were the two things that held that community together. Some towns got forgotten when the leagues folded, but Joplin's diamond legacy quietly endured. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Distressed cream block text reads "JOPLIN" above "19" and "02" flanking a cartoon miner in a wide-brimmed hat, rendered in muted gray and tan, gripping a bat in a batting stance. Bold cream text below reads "MINERS" with smaller text reading "CLASS D MINOR LEAGUE," "BASEBALL / JOPLIN, MO," and cursive text reading "Missouri Valley League."
