Kutsher's was the longest-running resort of the Borscht Belt, the Jewish summer-vacation kingdom that ran wild through the Catskills from the 1920s into the 1960s. Founded in 1907 as a small farm boarding house, it grew over four generations into a sprawling family-run resort with golf greens, tennis courts, indoor pools, ice rinks, and one of the most famous comedy stages in upstate New York. Its showroom served as a proving ground for an entire generation of stand-up comics, and its annual charity basketball game drew the biggest names in the NBA. After 106 summers, the family finally closed the doors in 2013, and the bulldozers came the next year.

The Details:
"Kutsher's" sets the tone in a tall, classic white serif with an oversized dropped K, with "country club" stacked below in smaller matching type and "Monticello, NY" and "ESTD 1907" running beneath in clean serif italics. To the right, a minimal illustration of a golf hole rounds out the design (a hilly putting green, a stylized golf ball patterned with blue continents, and a red pin flag). The whole layout has a quiet, Masters-tournament-inspired finish printed cleanly on forest green.
