The Los Angeles Wildcats were a professional football team that competed in the inaugural American Football League (AFL) season of 1926. Despite their name, the Wildcats were based in Chicago, Illinois, and functioned as a traveling team, playing all their games on the road. The team was owned by sports promoter C.C. Pyle and football star Red Grange, with the intent to showcase West Coast talent, notably George "Wildcat" Wilson from the University of Washington, after whom the team was nicknamed. The Wildcats concluded their sole season with a record of 6 wins, 6 losses, and 2 ties, placing fourth in the league standings. Following the AFL's dissolution after the 1926 season, the Wildcats disbanded, marking the end of their brief existence in early professional football history.
