Mahi Mahi brought Polynesian cuisine to Nashville during the 1960s tiki craze, offering rum drinks and carved totems far from honky-tonk row. Spots like these gave Southern cities a taste of tropical escapism. More than a restaurant, it was a portal to somewhere else entirely.
