New Haven's Profs played in the Eastern League during the 1920s, carrying the name of a city defined by its university culture. Founded in 1923, the club represented a Connecticut town where baseball and academia shared the same streets. Minor league teams like these gave small cities something beyond their institutions to rally around. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Distressed navy script reads "New Haven," above large cursive lettering spelling "Profs" with a pennant bearing "NH" and stars tucked beneath. A vintage hand-drawn batter in a classic swing stance stands to the right, beside block text reading "BASEBALL CLUB," "EASTERN LEAGUE" flanking a small baseball, "1923," and "NEW HAVEN, CT" at the bottom.
