Picwood Bowl stood as a temple of mid-century leisure in West Los Angeles from the 1950s through the early 1960s. Bowling alleys like this one anchored entire neighborhoods during the postwar boom. More than recreation, they were gathering places where communities formed over league nights and casual frames.
