Poughkeepsie fielded its Honey Bugs in the New York-New Jersey League during the 1913 season, a Class D club playing in an era when small-city baseball was the heartbeat of community life. Towns like Poughkeepsie poured their pride into these teams. Long after the league folded, the name still echoes along the Hudson Valley.
