Rio Grande Rios baseball club took the diamond in Salt Lake City around 1900, competing in the Utah-Idaho Intermountain League. Long before pro sports reached the mountain west, small-town clubs like these were the whole show. Saturday crowds came for the game and stayed because the team was theirs.
