Rockford's Forest Citys stood among the original founding members of professional baseball's first league, the National Association, in 1871. Playing out of northern Illinois, they represented a small city competing against the great urban clubs of the era. Some teams are remembered for championships, but the Forest Citys are remembered for being there at the very beginning. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Arched distressed white text reads "ROCKFORD" above larger ornate lettering reading "FOREST CITYS" with decorative flourishes. A vintage baseball illustration with visible stitching sits at the center beneath "EST.1871" and small radiating lines. Curved text below reads "ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS" and "BASEBALL CLUB."
