Salem's Fairies took the field in 1887 as part of the New England League, representing a Massachusetts city already steeped in centuries of history. Minor league baseball in that era bound small towns together in fierce regional pride. Teams like the Fairies gave Salem something beyond its colonial past to rally around, even if only for a brief season. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Distressed golden-yellow script text reads "FAIRIES" with a decorative swoosh tail, positioned above smaller serif and sans-serif text reading "Baseball Club," "Salem, Mass.," and "New England League," with stars flanking "1887." A cartoon green frog wearing a small gold crown sits to the left, gripping a baseball in its front legs.
