Samoa Lanes stood at 5th and Broadway in Santa Monica, a mid-century gathering place where league bowlers and beach town regulars shared lanes under one roof. Operating through the 1950s and 1960s, it was the kind of neighborhood alley that anchored a community. Some places you just never forget walking into. Part of our Vintage Los Angeles collection, featuring the iconic local landmarks of yesteryear.
The Details:
Teal hand-lettered text reads "SAMOA" above "lanes" in retro script, flanking a tall pole sign with "BOWL" and a bowler figure on top. A mid-century bowling alley rendered in teal, orange-rust, and black line art sits below, with palm trees and mountains behind. Text below reads "5th & BROADWAY," "SANTA MONICA, CALIF.," and "EXbrook 3-0293."
