Shenango Bowl-a-Way stood along Route 422 East in New Castle, Pennsylvania, a mid-century gathering spot with 24 automatic lanes. Opening during the 1950s bowling boom, it became a staple of Lawrence County leisure. Places like this anchored small-town social life, giving families and league bowlers a place to call their own. Part of our Retro Bowling collection, featuring the defunct alleys of yesteryear.
The Details:
Red script text reads "Shenango" beneath a gold six-pointed star atop a mid-century sign graphic displaying "BOWL·A·WAY" in white block letters, all within a large bowling ball circle with three finger holes. Two bowling pins with red striping sit below. Red outlined "24" and "AUTOMATIC LANES," "PHONE 658-8442," and "ROUTE 422 EAST • NEW CASTLE, PENN." appear at the bottom.
