Springfield's Ponies galloped through the Eastern League beginning in 1893, carrying the pride of western Massachusetts onto the diamond. Class A baseball in Springfield meant something back then, when minor league towns lived and died with every box score. Before the modern farm system existed, clubs like the Ponies were the game itself for their city. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
