Syracuse Stars baseball club joined the International Association in 1878, making Syracuse, New York one of the earliest cities in the northeast to field a professional team. Central New York embraced the game before most of the country even understood it. Some clubs from that era faded without a trace, but Syracuse kept showing up.

The Details:

A distressed white circular badge at center contains baseball stitching motifs, leaf branches, and an ornate letter "S" with "STARS" arched beneath it above "1878." Curved text within the badge reads "INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION," "SYRACUSE," and "NEW YORK."
