The White House Hotel on Ocean Drive at 15th Street in Miami Beach opened in 1939 as an elegant Neocolonial retreat designed by Roy E. France. With 178 rooms, a porch perfect for lounging, fishing and golf nearby, and a reputation as a high society getaway that even served returning WWII servicemen, it stood as a refined coastal icon until its decline and demolition in 1983.
